Market Research
Before doing anything with your online marketing campaigns, you need to know what you’re up against.
Keyword Analysis
Determine the top keywords that your target audience is searching for, and decide on several to focus on at first. Depending on the level of competition, the focus may be on short- or long-tail keywords, or a combination of both.
Competitor Keyword Analysis
In order to most effectively position your site against existing competitors, you will need to see what keywords they are ranking high on Google for, and what they’re not. The results of the investigation will help determine which keywords to focus on so that your site can get to the first page of results as quickly as possible.
Analytics Setup / Analysis
Setting up Google Analytics (or similar program) is one of the first things you should do. It is important to see where your users are coming from and to track the progress of your online marketing efforts.
If you already have Analytics set up, it is important to take that data into consideration when deciding which keywords to focus on.
